In the EVs or HEVs, we must consider the Whole Efficiency, so not only EM's efficiency, but also driving cycle should be focused on, such as the same EV, if uban driving cycle is taken, the operation spots are as follows:
and if the US Highway driving cycle is taken, the EM's operation spots will be:
compair the two fig. we can see under highway cycle, the EM will operate more in higher effic. area, so the whole effic. will be higher too.
Because the higher efficiency area of PMSM is larger than IM, so for urban cycle, PM machine is more favable! |
