Flux error message: Computation of number of holes of conductors impossible

I hope someone can help me. I have a problem with Flux. I have no errors in the geometry or mesh, but if I solve the scenario the following error message appears:

An error occurred in the algorithm.
Computation of number of holes of conductors impossible.
However, verifying still continues. An error occurred in the algorithm.
Computation of number of holes of conductors impossible.
However, verifying still continues. An error occurred in the algorithm.
Computation of number of holes of conductors impossible.
However, verifying still continues.

Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do?
Thank you!

"Computation of number of holes of conductors impossible"? do you sure that your model is correct?

tyrell 发表于 2013-10-5 01:09

Yes I think so. If I check the geometry, Flux says: Geometry is correct. If I check the mesh, it's the same, no error message. At physical check appears the message...Computation of number of holes of conductors impossible...
I found out that it might fail due to the periodicity. If I delete the periodicity the message does not appears. What's the meaning of this message?

i am studying the software too. i do not know exactly what it means. i think there may be something wrong in the boundry conditions.

-Can you plz explain what kinds of model you are simulating? motor, transformer?
-what's the geometry seting and physics setting?
-in circuit, you using solid conductor?or coil conductor?
-2D/3D model?
-Sometimes Only check Mesh or Physics is OK,but when start calculation....problems will come . More details will be easier for analyzed.

Thank you mrcj for your posting!

- its a RVDT (rotary variable differential transformer)
- what do you mean with geometry setting an physics setting? I implemented the model as 90 degree segment with a periodicity. The model has two primary coils and two secondary coils as non meshed coils.
- I use a non meshed coil with stranded coil conductor
- I use Flux 10.4.1 and it is a 3D model
- if i check the geometry, Flux says: "geometry is correct". After the mesh process there is also no error. If i check the physics now, Flux says:

Begin of physical check ...

Multiplying coefficient for the flux in the coils and for coupling with electrical circuits :
Automatically calculated value = 4

End of physical check.

I can start the calculation, Flux solves the scenario, but it appears always the error message.

Do you have any idea what that might be?

You are wellcome. Sometimes error is quite funny except the simulationis running out of time ......
first of all.it is myfirst time hear RVDT, but I did some simulations about transformer before, 2d or 3d. Hope I can help.

How many non-mesh coil you use? (hundreds?)

in circuit, how many coil-conductor you are using?

As your settingis 1/4periodicity, I think the connection of conductors should be in series . Check carefully on the COIL part.

I think you may try 360 degree model see what will happen. setting of periodicity should be VERY careful!

tyrell 发表于 2013-10-13 18:51

- I have 4 non-meshed coils, two primary coils, two secondary coils and I use 4 coil conductors.

- I checked the coil parts, the connection of conductors are in series.

- Yes, I tried already a 360 degree model, but the computation aborted with the message: out of memory. The 360 degree model is to large.

I have no idea what it could be :( :(

edit: mrcj I send you a message

I have the same problem. Have it been solved?

I have problem with CEDRAT Flux.

When I run a model in skew mode, it has some error
someone helps me, it is emergency for me

PVRDTP_2 => No delta_t for position
