OPERA的背景

起源于英国著名的卢瑟福·阿普尔顿实验室（Rutherford Appleton Laboratory），80多年来陆续合并多个实验室

1.1921，Slough，无线电研究站，后改称Appleton Laboratory
2.1957，Rutherford High Energy Laboratory，（RHEL）卢瑟福高能物理实验室
3.1964，Chilton，Atlas Computing Laboratory）
4.1975年，3并入2，仍称卢瑟福实验室
5.1979年，1并入2，Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, RAL)
6.1984， Vector Fields成立
7.1989，USA 总部在Aurora成立
8.2005, Vector Fields 由Cobham plc 收购
